There is no guiding allowed in Zion National Park Wilderness. No commercial canyoneering guide service is allowed in canyons such as The Subway or Pine Creek. All Zion Guru trip providers are licensed and permitted for access on public and private lands outside the boundaries of Zion National Park. Pine Creek is the scene of numerous rescues every year. Please limit your group size to 6 or less, both for the sake of your own enjoyment, and for that of other parties in the canyon. (If you need to break your group up, it is pretty easy to take one group through in the morning and another group through in the afternoon. Pine Creek is a fantastic introduction to Zion canyons. It's easy to access and return, and hosts spectacular (and varied) scenery. There are typically plenty of permits available, and often combined with nearby Keyhole Canyon (Zion National Park). Depending on the season, the canyon can be quite chilly or pleasantly cool.

Don’t enter any canyon without the skills to match it, or the knowledge to navigate it. Pine Creek requires a canyoneering permit that can be reserved online and picked up at the Zion Visitor Center. Be sure to reserve your permit 3 months in advance as Pine Creek typically sells out every day in the summer. Why does it sell out?
